Returns & Refund Policy
RETURNS & REFUNDS
Last updated: 12 August 2026
At Soft Pixel Diaries™, we carefully inspect and quality-check our products before they are packed and dispatched.
Soft Pixel Diaries™ offers a curated range of products including vintage and pre-owned digital cameras, bags, jewellery, charms, hair accessories, camera accessories and other fashion and lifestyle products.
As some of our products are vintage, pre-owned, handmade, hand-assembled or individually sourced, minor variations and characteristics may occur.
This policy applies to purchases made through softpixeldiaries.com.
CHANGE OF MIND
Please choose carefully, as Soft Pixel Diaries™ does not generally accept returns, exchanges or refunds for change of mind, including where you:
-
decide you no longer want the item;
-
select the wrong product, colour or style;
-
find the item cheaper elsewhere; or
-
simply change your mind after purchasing.
This does not affect any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.
We encourage you to carefully review product descriptions, photographs, measurements and other information before purchasing.
If you're unsure about a product, you're always welcome to contact us before placing your order.
VINTAGE & PRE-OWNED DIGITAL CAMERAS
Our digital cameras are predominantly genuine vintage or pre-owned electronic devices.
Before being listed or dispatched, cameras are individually inspected, cleaned and tested.
Depending on the particular camera and its available functions, testing may include:
-
power on/off;
-
LCD display;
-
lens operation and zoom;
-
photo capture;
-
flash functionality;
-
button responsiveness;
-
memory-card reading; and
-
battery compartment inspection.
We may also photograph or video record cameras prior to packaging and dispatch to maintain a record of their condition and functionality.
Because vintage cameras are pre-owned electronic devices, they may display reasonable signs of previous use and age.
This can include minor cosmetic wear, light scratches, marks or other imperfections consistent with a pre-owned product.
Any significant known cosmetic or functional issues identified during our testing will be disclosed in the individual product listing.
KNOWN & DISCLOSED CAMERA FAULTS
From time to time, we may sell a vintage camera with a known fault or limitation.
For example, a camera may have a non-functioning flash while its other advertised functions remain operational.
Where a known fault exists, we will clearly disclose it in the product listing before purchase and may price the camera accordingly.
A customer is not generally entitled to a remedy for a particular defect that was specifically disclosed before purchase simply because of that disclosed defect.
This does not affect your rights in relation to any separate, undisclosed problem or any other rights available under the Australian Consumer Law.
ARRIVAL INSPECTION
Please inspect your order as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.
If your item appears to have arrived damaged, faulty, incorrect or significantly different from its description, we recommend contacting us within 48 hours of delivery where possible.
Contacting us promptly helps us investigate potential transit damage and establish the condition of the parcel when it arrived.
The 48-hour period is not a limitation on your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
For cameras and other fragile or high-value products, we strongly recommend recording one continuous, unedited unboxing video beginning with the sealed parcel and continuing through the initial inspection of the product.
For digital cameras, this can include the camera's first power-on.
An unboxing video can significantly assist us in investigating damage that may have occurred during transit.
An unboxing video is not a condition of exercising your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
FAULTY, DAMAGED OR INCORRECT ITEMS
If you believe you have received a faulty, damaged, incorrect or misdescribed product, please contact us with your order number and details of the issue.
Depending on the product and issue, we may request reasonable supporting information such as:
-
photographs of the product;
-
photographs of the packaging;
-
video demonstrating the issue;
-
sample images taken with a digital camera;
-
an unboxing video, if available; and
-
details of any troubleshooting already attempted.
This information helps us understand the issue and determine the appropriate next steps.
DIGITAL CAMERA TROUBLESHOOTING
Some apparent issues with vintage digital cameras may relate to battery type, battery charge, memory-card compatibility, camera settings or other model-specific requirements.
Where appropriate, we may ask you to complete reasonable troubleshooting steps before arranging a return.
This does not remove or restrict any rights available to you under the Australian Consumer Law.
If troubleshooting does not resolve the issue and further assessment is appropriate, we may arrange for the camera to be returned for inspection.
RETURNS FOR ASSESSMENT
Where reasonably required to assess a reported issue, we may ask for the product to be returned to Soft Pixel Diaries™.
Once received, the product may be inspected to determine the nature and cause of the reported problem.
For digital cameras, this may include testing relevant functionality and comparing the returned condition with our pre-dispatch photographs, videos and testing records where available.
For other products, we may inspect the item for manufacturing faults, damage or other issues relevant to the claim.
The outcome and available remedy will depend on the circumstances and your rights under applicable law.
DAMAGE CAUSED AFTER DELIVERY
Consumer guarantees do not generally require a business to provide a remedy where the problem was caused by the customer's misuse or damage after the product was supplied.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include damage resulting from:
-
dropping or impact;
-
water or liquid exposure where the product is not designed for such exposure;
-
sand, dirt or foreign-object contamination;
-
misuse or unreasonable use;
-
incorrect or incompatible accessories;
-
improper charging or power sources;
-
unauthorised repairs, modifications or disassembly; or
-
other damage occurring after delivery.
Each claim will be assessed based on its individual circumstances.
RETURNS UNDER AUSTRALIAN CONSUMER LAW
If a product does not meet a consumer guarantee under the Australian Consumer Law, the remedy available will depend on the nature and seriousness of the problem.
For a major problem, you may be entitled to choose a refund or replacement in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law.
For a minor problem, we may be entitled to provide an appropriate remedy, such as a repair, within a reasonable time.
Where a replacement is not reasonably available — which may occur with one-of-one vintage cameras or limited pieces — another remedy may apply in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law.
Nothing in this policy limits these rights.
RETURN CONDITION
Where a product is being returned, please take reasonable care when packaging it and include the original accessories and components supplied with the product where applicable.
Products should be packaged securely to prevent damage during return transit.
Where a product has been damaged, modified or altered after delivery for reasons unrelated to the original reported issue, this may affect the remedy available depending on the circumstances.
RETURN SHIPPING COSTS
Where a product is confirmed to have a problem covered by the Australian Consumer Law, Soft Pixel Diaries™ will meet its obligations regarding reasonable return costs as required by law.
If an item is returned for assessment and is found not to have a fault covered by the Australian Consumer Law, responsibility for shipping costs will depend on the circumstances.
Original shipping charges are not refundable for an approved change-of-mind return, where we have expressly agreed to accept one.
This does not limit any entitlement to recover shipping or other reasonable costs where required under the Australian Consumer Law.
ONE-OF-ONE & LIMITED PRODUCTS
Many Soft Pixel Diaries™ products — particularly our vintage digital cameras — are individually sourced and may be one-of-one.
This means an identical replacement may not always be available.
If a replacement is required but an identical product is unavailable, we will discuss the remedies available in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law.
HANDMADE & HAND-ASSEMBLED PRODUCTS
Some Soft Pixel Diaries™ jewellery, charms and accessories may be handmade or hand-assembled.
Minor variations in placement, finish, colour, size or appearance can occur between individually made pieces and are not necessarily faults.
However, handmade products are still covered by applicable consumer guarantees under Australian law.
SALE & DISCOUNTED ITEMS
Purchasing an item during a sale or with a discount code does not remove your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
We do not generally accept change-of-mind returns on sale or discounted products.
Where an item has been discounted specifically because of a disclosed imperfection or fault, that issue will be identified before purchase where applicable.
AUSTRALIAN CONSUMER LAW
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
Nothing in this Returns & Refund Policy is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Where this policy is inconsistent with a mandatory right under Australian law, the applicable law will prevail.
